January 27, 2012STEELE: FORMER PRINCESS DIANA SOLICITOR JAILED OVER £17.5M FRAUDAn ex-partner at Princess Diana's solicitors and the former owner of Claims Direct have been jailed for a total of 11 years and nine months for carrying out a 'spectacular' £17.5m fraud on a Swiss bank. Lawyer Kevin Steele, 51, helped create the pretence businessman Michael Shephard, 50, had a £76.4m personal fortune in two offshore accounts. The two men used phoney paperwork claiming the money was available as a security with Bank Julius Baer (BJB) to trick EFG Private Bank into paying out a huge loan EFG was told the cash would be used to finance the development of three luxury Turkish resorts where England striker Wayne Rooney and Brazilian ace Ronaldinho wanted to buy villas.

January 27, 2012DIZAEI: WATCHDOG INVESTIGATOR 'TOOK SIDES' IN DIZAEI CASE, DEFENCE CLAIMSA senior investigator was today (Fri) accused of ‘taking sides’ against Scotland Yard Commander Ali Dizaei during a corruption probe into the officer. Peter Orr, who led an inquiry for the Independent Police Complaints Commission, ‘became far, far too close’ to web designer Waad Al-Baghdadi - who Dizaei is said to have framed for a bogus attack, it is claimed. Dizaei, 49, is said to have inflicted injuries on himself to back up claims that the 26-year-old had assaulted him with a shisha pipe mouthpiece at Yas Persian restaurant in Kensington, west London.

WHITE: SIX IN COURT OVER £1M SMASH-AND-GRAB RAIDSCENTRAL LONDON; ISLINGTON, NORTH LONDON Six alleged members of a gang of smash-and-grab raiders who stole £1million worth of goods from London designer stores appeared in court today (Thurs). Bradley White, 21, Daniel White, 18, Reece Jackson, 19, Steven Dedman, 19, Grant McCarroll, 18, and Lizzy Andrews, 18, are accused of targeting about 50 shops across the capital, including Dior, Anya Hindmarch and Lowe, and the Apple store.
