BURTON: NURSE BOUGHT PATIENT NEW PYJAMAS

YORK A nurse kissed a patient and bought him a new pair of pyjamas, a tribunal heard. Julie Burton formed an inappropriate relationship with the man suffering from severe anxiety, depression and alcohol withdrawal. Burton kissed him, gave him her phone number and exchanged text messages with him while working for the York Teaching hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She also bought the man toiletries and nightclothes, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard.

ZULIFGAR ALI: GP WHO SCROUNGED DRUGS FROM PATIENT FACES BAN

BLACKBURN, LANCS A GP who convinced a patient to share his fungal toenail medication so he could get drugs for free faces being struck off. Dr Zulfiqar Ali wrote his patient an excessive four-month prescription for the tablets after finding out they had a similar medical condition on 26 March last year. The man, referred to as Patient A, did not have to pay for prescriptions and agreed to give the doctor six of the eight boxes of pills, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service heard. Dr Ali then changed his medical records, repeatedly lied and even sent the patient's estranged brother to his home to get him to change his story in an attempt to cover up the scam, the hearing was told.

GREAVES:SWEARY NURSE REARED UP ON THE WARD

STAFFORD An abusive nurse who regularly swore at work told a colleague not to worry her 'little head', a tribunal heard today. Peter Greaves allegedly told a fellow worker to 'f**k off' in a voice mail and called another staff member a 'f**king jobsworth' on the Chebsy ward at St George's hospital in Stafford. The new manager, Rachael Horton, had been making changes regarding staff working times and procedure, the Nursing and Midwifery council heard. Greaves allegedly lost his temper with colleagues and said 'thank you very f**king much for your support' after an argument with Ms Horton on 16 August 2012. Colleague Isabel Cartmel said: 'He was very upset that no one had stood up for him.

MURPHY: JAIL BECKONS FOR THE BRAGGING PERVERT

ROTHERHITHE A paedophile who boasted of raping a six-year-old to an online investigator while indulging in a four day cocaine binge is facing years behind bars. Paul Murphy, 41, was snared by a covert online investigator when he was trawling an adult website and using SKYPE chat. Hiding behind names Hybrid30 and Midnight Black, Murphy boasted of raping a six year old girl. Murphy's sickening claims also included that he had sexually assaulted three girls and sexually assaulted a nine year old boy.

WINSKILL: FURIOUS JUDGE FORCED TO DELAY SENTENCE OF RAPIST

HILLINGDON, WEST LONDON A 'furious' judge was forced to delay the sentence of a rapist who preyed on young girls in care after bungling probation workers failed to provide a report today (mon). Jamie Winskill, 25, would 'move in' on young teenagers, chatting them up and plying them with drugs before brutally attacking them for his 'sexual satisfaction'. The victims, who he knew were underage, lived in a care home in Hillingdon, west London. One 15-year-old who had already engaged in sexual activity with Winskill went to a party at a flat owned by Winskill's cousin in (14) Archie Close, West Drayton.

CHAPMAN:JUDGE TELLS JURY: 'FREEDOM OF PRESS IS RIGHTLY PRIZED

CORBY, NORTHANTS; DULWICH, SOUTH LONDON An Old Bailey judge told jurors trying two reporters accused of paying a jailer for stories about Jamie Bulger's killer that 'the freedom of the press is rightly prized'. Scott Chapman, 42, sold material about Jon Venables from inside a high security jail, channelling the money through ex-girlfriend Lynn Gaffney, 40, the court has heard. He more than doubled his annual wage of £29,000 selling stories to the News of the World, The Sun, The Daily Mirror, The Sunday Mirror, The People, The Daily Star and The Star on Sunday between March 2010 and June 2011, it is alleged. The News of the World journalist, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, and Thomas Savage, 37, deputy news editor at the Daily Star Sunday, are accused of paying the couple thousands of pounds for the articles.

SODE:BABY SHOWED NO SIGNS OF EXTERNAL INJURY

ROMFORD, RAINHAM, ESSEX A three-month old baby who was left brain damaged after he was allegedly shaken showed no signs of external injury when he was admitted to hospital, a court heard. Renata Sode, 26, carried out internet searches for 'baby in coma' and 'baby having difficulty breathing' after attacking the child, it is claimed. The boy, who cannot be identified, was taken to Queen's Hospital in Romford, Essex, at 10am on 17 September 2012 after she finally raised the alarm. Sode's husband, Mindaugas Sodys, 31, is accused of failing to call an ambulance after the infant had slipped into a coma at one point during the night of 16 September 2012.

HOLBOLL:KNIFE ATTACK PENSIONER FEARED KILLER SON WOULD HARM HER

KENTISH TOWN, NORTH LONDON A pensioner was stabbed to death by her mentally ill son just hours after her pleas for him to be admitted to hospital were dismissed as 'overly-dramatic'. Tamara Holboll, 68, revealed her fears that 44 year-old Peter Holboll would hurt her but was told by medical staff there were no beds available, the Old Bailey heard today (mon). Her son, a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic, was given anti-psychotic drugs and sent back to her home in Kentish Town, northwest London. The following day the pair repeated their pleas for a hospital admission during a visit by a specialist mental health team but were told it was not possible.

PHARO:TOP COP CLAIMS SUN REPORT GAVE TERRORISTS A HEADS UP

BRENTWOOD, SAFFRON WALDEN, ESSEX; WINDSOR, BERKS; WAPPING, EAST LONDON A top Met officer today (mon) claimed a story published in The Sun newspaper about police operations after the Mumbai massacre gave terrorists a 'heads up.' Detective Superintendent Marshall Kent said the newspaper 'unhelpfully' published confidential anti-terrorism information in November 2010. Supt Kent told jurors the article 'Mumbai Raid Fear on Xmas Shoppers' revealed police response times and armed-unit locations aided those 'who wish to do us harm.' The Sun reported that armed police were patrolling shopping centres around London in the wake of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks on 27 November 2010, Kingston Crown Court heard.

FERNANDO:PATIENT TURNED BLUE AFTER OXYGEN MASK BLUNDER

WORTHING, WEST SUSSEX A patient turned blue after a bungling anaesthetist failed to spot her oxygen mask had become displaced, a tribunal heard today (mon). Dr Sebastian Fernando allegedly allowed the 57-year-old woman's oxygen saturation to drop to a 'dangerously low' 25 per cent when the safe level is 95 per cent or above. The morbidly obese woman, referred to as Patient B, was undergoing a gynaecological procedure at Worthing Hospital, in West Sussex on 15 April last year. She made a full recovery after colleagues intervened, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service heard.

ASH-SMITH:JURY SELECTION BEGINS FOR CLAIRE TILTMAN MURDER TRIAL

GREENHITHE, KENT Fifty potential jurors were summoned to court today (mon) for the trial of a milkman accused of murdering a 16-year-old schoolgirl nearly 22 years ago. Colin Ash-Smith, 46, allegedly killed Claire Tiltman in an alleyway in Greenhithe, Kent, as she made her way to friend's house. The Dartford Grammar School pupil was stabbed more than 40 times in the frenzied attack, which took place just four days after her 16th birthday. Claire, who had used the alleyway as a shortcut, staggered to a nearby road where she collapsed and died.
