DIAB: BOGUS CREDIT CARD FRAUDSTERS JAILED

WINDSOR; HEMEL HEMPSTEAD; MAIDA VALE Two fraudsters who were caught red-handed trying to buy expensive watches using counterfeit credit cards were jailed today (FRI). Rafaa AlHawamdh and Mirvat Diab, both 31, were arrested using the bogus cards at Ernest Jones jewellery shops in London and Windsor. The police investigation led to a counterfeiting ring based at a flat in Maida Vale, west London. Three other men, Ali Chalhoub, 28, Ayoub Khatab, 26, and Abbas Faraj, 26, were also arrested as part of the inquiry after being found in possession of fake credit cards.

CHRISTODOULOU: PENSIONER CONVICTED OF CHILD ABUSE

HARLOW; DAGENHAM A child abuser who raped and sexually assaulted three young girls over a 14-year period is facing years behind bars today (Fri). Christakis Christodoulou, 72, attacked the victims at his home in Dagenham while his partner was out of the house. The abuse took place between 1986 and 1999 while the girls were aged between seven and 15 years old. Christodoulou, who has two previous convictions for indecent assault and indecency with a child dating back to the 1980s, was arrested in 2012 after one of the victims came forward to police.

AYLMER: MOTHER FACES JAIL FOR ORDERING ATTACK ON 'BULLY'

STOKE NEWINGTON; WALTHAM ABBEY A woman who ordered her son and a teenager to batter a man with a baseball bat after a trivial row is facing years behind bars today (Fri). Caroline Aylmer, 50, plotted with son Kieran Aylmer, 31, to punish Abdi Osman for being a ‘bully.' Ms Aylmer texted Kieran with advice on how to carry out the assault last November, saying: “You'll beat him with one hand, just make sure you don’t kill him.” Caroline Aylmer pointed Mr Osman out to the pair before her son hit the victim over the head, leaving him with life threatening injuries.

D'SOUZA: BOGUS WITCHDOCTOR BOASTED SHE KNEW SIMON COWELL

HAMPSTEAD A bogus witch-doctor who swindled £1m to 'heal' clients told a young singer she could introduce him to Simon Cowell, a court heard today (Thurs). Juliette D'Souza, 59, splurged the cash intended for 'sacrifices' on jewellery, perfume, antique furniture and handbags Blackfriars Crown Court heard. The self-proclaimed 'shaman' took hundreds of thousands of pounds from opera singer Sylvia Eaves, it is claimed She met her pupil Paul Ali in Ms Eaves' north London flat.

MAO-AWEYS: DOCTOR CAUGHT IN FGM FAKE SHEIKH STING

BIRMINGHAM, LONDON A doctor was caught offering to help in arranging a female genital mutilation (FGM) operation in a Sunday Times sting set up by ‘Fake Sheikh’ Mazher Mahmood, a tribunal heard today (Fri). Dr Ali Mao-Aweys, who has private clinics in Birmingham and London, was filmed apparently discussing the banned procedure on a camera hidden in an unknown female investigator’s handbag in April 2012. The reporter posed as a patient, ‘Omena’, and told the medic she wanted her 10 and 13-year-old nieces circumcised during a visit from Ghana. Mao-Aweys is allegedly heard offering advice, giving her the phone number of another Birmingham doctor who could perform the operation and suggesting it would be safer to go to Africa because of the stiff penalties in the UK. The doctor, whose first language is German, denies the charges and is expected to tell the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service he thought he was discussing a ‘reversal’ procedure to open up the vagina on a girl who had already undergone FGM.

GOODMAN 'MANIPULATED INTO TAKING BLAME FOR HACKING'

CHARING, KENT; ADDLESTONE, SURREY Former News of the World editor Andy Coulson 'manipulated' his Royal editor into taking the full blame for phone hacking when it was first exposed in 2006, the Old Bailey heard today (Fri). Clive Gooodman accused Coulson and News International of lining him up as a scapegoat for hacking after his arrest in 2006, and believed they were trying to meddle in his legal case. The 56-year-old veteran reporter accused Coulson of speaking to his solicitor behind his back, and trying to manipulate him into covering-up the involvement of others in hacking with a job offer. He secretly recorded at least three conversations with Coulson, after his August 2006 arrest for hacking voicemails, for ‘self-protection’, he told the court.

FANNING: RUDE MEDIC IS STRUCK OFF

LINCOLN A medic who hurled equipment across an operating theatre when he hit his head on surgical equipment has been struck off. Paul Fanning's bouts of 'unpredictable and uncontrolled anger' were triggered by the slightest irritants and he stormed out of the procedure shouting. It was one of a series incidents at Lincoln County Hospital involving the bad tempered surgical assistant who had such a reputation that colleagues dreaded working with him. He told one colleague to help him when she was checking in a patient and screamed so aggressively that she burst into tears, the Health and Care Professions Council heard.

ESPRIT: BARBERSHOP TRIO JAILED FOR BOOKIE RAIDS

PLAISTOW, ROMFORD Three robbers have been locked up for more than 12 years for a series of betting shop raids, despite a judge admitting he had no idea how they were involved. Barbers Christopher Sorhaindo, 46, and Fareed Rasheed, 36, and accomplice Curtis Esprit, 29, were all convicted of a raid on a Coral bookmakers in Plaistow, east London. The robbers swiped more than £16,500 from the tills and tied up night worker Hannah Borges during the break-in. Sorhaindo and Rasheed were each jailed for two and a half years, while Espirit was locked up for seven and a half years after being convicted of a further two robberies.

BHATTI: ACCOUNTANT STOLE FROM KID'S CHARITY

STRATHAVEN A Pakistani accountancy student who stole £667,000 from government departments and a children's charity in a cheque fraud has been jailed for three years. Muhammad Bhatti, 27, opened 31 bank accounts which were used to divert funds from dozens of stolen cheques into his own pocket. He claimed to be fully qualified when he opened a client account with the Royal Bank of Scotland. Despite having no proof of his alleged credentials the bank did not question his authenticity and he was able to set up accounts posing as various companies and organisations.

HOPE: ACCUSED FRAUDSTER'S CHAMPAGNE FOR STAR

CENTRAL LONDON A City fraudster bought pop star Rihanna a bottle of Cristal champagne as part of his £65,113 bar bil when she performed at his favourite Mayfair nightclub, a court heard. Alex Hope, 25, allegedly used investors' cash to treat the Umbrella singer to a three-litre bottle of the bubbly, worth £4,500, after securing a table next to the star. Hope used punters' funds as his 'personal piggy bank' and blew £125,000 on a single Nebuchadnezzar 15-litre bottle of champagne during another night out, Southwark Crown Court heard. He then frittered away almost £1m in casinos and racked up bar bills of £500,000 at exclusive nightclubs in London and Dubai after reinventing himself as a Forex trader.

LOK: PERVERTED DOCTOR FACES BAN

SWINDON A doctor caught using his iPhone to take secret snaps of a teenage boy getting undressed in a leisure centre changing room faces being struck off. The 15-year-old spotted Dr Michael Chong Kee Lok, 51, taking pictures on his mobile after a tennis lesson. The former A&E doctor at Swindon's Great Western Hospital fled after the lad pulled up his underwear, but was quickly identified by staff at Bath University Sports Village. Lok told police he had taken the pictures because he found the child 'attractive' and confessed to photographing other naked men in November and December 2012.
