PORTER: CARRY ON NURSE FOR MEDICS WHO LOCKED OUT MENTALLY ILL MAN

WOLVERHAMPTON Two nurses who locked a mentally ill patient out of hospital and left him in a courtyard for nearly an hour in November have been allowed to keep their jobs. Akosua Aboagye and Julia Porter intervened when the man, known as Patient A, became violent on the Cedar Ward of Penn Hospital, Wolverhampton, West Midlands. Patient A was known to exhibit challenging behaviour, and suffered from frequent volatile outbursts, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard. He had become aggressive as the patients were gathering in the dining room for their lunch, it was said.

WICKENS: SUSPENSION FOR JUBILEE ROW NURSE

GREAT DUNMOW A BUPA care home nurse who walked out after learning that a pensioner was allowed to attend a Queen's Jubilee party has been suspended for six months. Wendy Wickens thought the elderly resident was too unwell to join in the street party organised by the Croft House Nursing and Residential Home, Great Dunmow, Essex. But opposition from non-clinical staff led to the elderly lady attending the celebrations on 1 June 2012. Wickens was left feeling 'undermined' and 'worthless' so she abandoned her shift five hours early, leaving the home without adequate cover, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard.

LIM: VAST GAMBLING DEBTS OF ROYAL BODYGUARD

CENTRAL LONDON A badminton star who allegedly stole diamonds belonging to the Sultan of Brunei's ex-wife racked up huge debts gambling at some of London's top casinos, a court heard. Fatimah Lim, 35, who was Madam Mariam Aziz's bodyguard, replaced them gems with fakes and jetted off to Geneva to sell the originals a diamond merchant for over £4.2 million, it is claimed. She allegedly sold the 12.71 carat blue diamond, worth £7.6million, and 27.1 carat yellow diamond, worth £600,000, to pay off her huge gambling debts. The Singaporean shuttler is said to have blown over £5m playing the tables at top London casinos including the Clermont Club in Berkeley Square and Aspinalls near Park Lane.

HOTI: KOSOVAN PLAYS THE SHELL SHOCK CARD - AND LOSES

STOKE NEWINGTON A Kosovan refugee who lied about witnessing Serbian atrocities in a bid to escape justice for murdering his wife is facing life in jail. Muhamet Hoti, 43, stabbed 42 year-old mother-of-three Ganimete Hoti to death at their home in north London after repeatedly accusing her of having affairs with other men. He claimed he was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder as an excuse for the killing. Hoti had lied to British authorities for years about witnessing Serbian atrocities to claim asylum and benefits in the UK.

VERZARIU: TOP SOLICITOR BURSTS INTO TEARS AS SHE IS CLEARED OF BIKER DEATH

SHEPHERD'S BUSH A high-flying solicitor accused of killing a biker by careless driving a sobbed as she was cleared today (Wed). Alexandra Verzariu, 32, drove into the path of Rodrigo Pereira De Souza after taking a wrong turn en route to a Saturday morning netball match. Verzariu - a senior associate in the corporate department of international law firm, Ashurst - was accused of failing to look where she was going when she hit the Brazillian, causing him to be thrown off his motorcycle and into a lampost. A post-mortem found he suffered 'massive head and neck injuries' after the 'tragic' collision at the junction of Harrow Road and Bourne Terrace in Maida Vale, west London, on October 13 last year.

AMES:FRAUDSTER ONCE HIRED JAMES MIDDLETON TO PROMOTE SCHEME

RAYLEIGH, ESSEX A 'green finance' firm boss who hired the brother of the Duchess of Cambridge to promote a bogus rainforest protection scheme today (weds) faces years behind bars. Matthew Ames, 38, cheated ethical investors out of £1.6m through fake green projects to fund his lavish lifestyle. His business Forestry For Life, which netted over £400,000 by claiming to protect the Amazon rainforest, was represented by Kate Middleton's brother James at a trade fair in London in 2010. Ames also hired England World Cup winner Jack Charlton and sport supremo Sir Rodney Walker to promote Forestry for Life and his other firm, the Investor Club, at events.

GRIFFITHS:BURGLAR ADMITS STABBING PENSIONER TO DEATH

FULHAM, EARLS COURT, SOUTHWEST LONDON A burglar today (weds) admitted stabbing a pensioner to death in a botched house raid when he appeared at the Old Bailey. Joseph Griffiths, 73, was found dead at his home in Hazlebury Road, Fulham, west London, in the early hours of November 10, 2012, after police were called to investigate a break-in. A postmortem revealed that Mr Griffiths, a married grandfather of seven with two grown up sons, had been fatally stabbed. Aaron (corr) De Silva, 21, admitted manslaughter and breaking into Mr Griffiths' home with a lock knife.

ZEMICAEL:HOSTEL RESIDENT MURDERED AFTER GAMBLING WINDFALL

SHOREDITCH, EAST LONDON A hostel resident was murdered by his friend after boasting about his gambling windfall, the Old Bailey heard. Gary Briscoe, 42, was described as a 'show-off' who liked to brag whenever he had come into cash. Eritrean-born Mehretab Zemicael, 43, allegedly slit Mr Briscoe's throat at a hostel in Code Street Shoreditch, east London. Mr Briscoe's lifeless body was found locked in Zemicael's blood-stained bedroom by a horrified member of staff.

BARNES: MUSLIM TERRORIST FACES SIX YEARS OVER RIGBY MURDER

WOOLWICH/HACKNEY A Muslim extremist linked to Woolwich killer Michael Adebowale is facing up to six and a half years in jail today (Weds) for glorifying the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in a series of YouTube videos. Royal Barnes, 23, was filmed by his veil-wearing wife Rebekah Dawson, 22, laughing hysterically as he drove past the scene of the attack. Dawson later deliberately attempted to undermine the justice system by refusing to remove her veil in court in a separate case, causing nationwide controversy. Her husband had ridiculed the memorial flowers left by friends, family and members of the public for Drummer Rigby and described the murder as 'absolutely brilliant'. In other videos posted on YouTube in the days after the killing, both Barnes and Dawson boasted that Sharia Law would be imposed on the UK and British women would be forced to wear the hijab.

FARROW: BUILDER CAUGHT WITH £200K OF PURE COCAINE FACING YEARS BEHIND BARS

COLCHESTER, ESSEX A builder caught with £200,000 worth of high purity cocaine is today (Weds) facing years behind bars. Lee Farrow, 41, was snared carrying just over a kilo of the Class A drug while a passenger in his girlfriend's car. The stash, which was 88 per cent pure, was unearthed by police during a search on January 21 this year, Southwark Crown Court heard. In a reference to girlfriend Gemma Arnold, 32, he told officers: 'It's nothing to do with my missus, she was doing me a favour as my van had broken down.'

AFARIOGUN:MUGGER ON BIKE PREYED ON SCHOOLGIRLS

RAINHAM, ESSEX A cowardly mugger who only targeted vulnerable schoolgirls was jailed for four years today (weds). Ade Afariogun, 25, would ride his bike around schools in Rainham, Essex where he would single out young girls walking on their own before attempting to take their mobile phones. His first victim was walking home from school when she was approached by Afariogun who snatched the mobile phone and rode off on November 11, 2013. He targeted another girl aged eleven six days later before a failed attempt at robbing a third young girl on November 19.
