SMITH: PRISONER ATTACKED FELLOW INMATES WITH RAZOR BLADES

DUNDEE; A razor wielding prisoner slashed two fellow inmates in almost identical jailhouse attacks, a court heard today (wed). Ewan-Alexander Smith, 31, allegedly pounced from behind to cut Sulaiman Lawal's throat in HMP Brixton, south London.

ODENINA: JAIL FOR CRACK SMUGGLER

SOUTH BERMONDSEY A university student who was snared trying to smuggle crack to a gangland member he was visiting in prison was today (tue) jailed for four years. Michael Odenina, 24, donned two pairs of trousers in an attempt to hide 17 wraps of the Class A drug.

KING:RAIDERS FLED JEWELLERS WHEN SHOP BOSS PRESSED ALARM BUTTON

HORNCHURCH, ESSEX; FOREST HILL, SOUTHWARK, SOUTHEAST LONDON. A gang of would-be robbers wielding imitation firearms ran away from a jewellery shop mid-heist when the elderly owner pressed an alarm button, a court heard. The four masked men had driven from south London to rob the Solitaire jewellery shop in North Street, Hornchurch, Essex. But when they heard the alarm, they panicked and ran without taking anything, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard. They had previously tried and failed to enter the shop door, which could only be opened from the inside, by following a man who was leaving the building. When they moved too slowly and the door shut in their faces, they fetched an accomplice who let them in by posing as a legitimate customer.

AZRAM:10 YEARS FOR BROTHERS WHO SUPPLIED MURDER WEAPON FOR STREET GANG

PECKHAM, SOUTHEAST LONDON; AYLESBURY, BUCKS. Two brothers who supplied a gun to a notorious street gang in a deal which led to the assassination of a 17 year-old boy were each jailed for 10 years today (Mon). Mohammed Azram, 26, and sibling Amanullah Azram, 29, handed over a Tokarev self-loading pistol and ammunition for nearly £1,600 to members of the Peckham Boys.

FERNANDEZ-COSTA: HOSPITAL ORDER FOR PENKNIFE STABBER

PADDINGTON/CRICKLEWOOD A paranoid schizophrenic who repeatedly stabbed a teenage schoolboy with a penknife in a frenzied attack outside the pupil’s school has been detained in hospital. Joao Fernandez-Costa, 26, punctured one of Muhammad Islam’s lungs and lacerated his liver with the four inch blade as passers-by watched on in horror.

JUDGE CALLS FOR SECURITY REVIEW AS HUNTLEY SLASHER GETS LIFE

DURHAM A judge has called for a security review at Frankland prison after he jailed a man for life for slashing Ian Huntley's throat. Damien Fowkes, 36, attacked the killer of Holly and Jessica Chapman with a razor blade after saying he 'did not deserve to live.' Huntley was left with a 'massive gaping hole' to the side of his neck. Fowkes was overpowered by prison officers as Huntley barricaded himself into a servery.

JOHNSON:DRUGS COUNSELLOR FACES TRIAL FOR SMUGGLING CANNABIS INTO JAIL

ISLINGTON, NORTH LONDON. A drugs counsellor accused of smuggling cannabis into a prison has been ordered to stand trial next summer. Daryl Johnson, 25, is alleged to have abused his role as a CARAT (Counselling, Assessment, Referral Advice, Through care) worker to pass drugs to inmate Duran Braithwaite, 30, at HMP Pentonville.

Highspending broker Robert Taylor-Barefoot, 33, skipped bail and fled his home days before he and 41 year-old business partner Jeremy Wright were due before a jury over the £250,000 scam.

Big spending broker Robert Taylor-Barefoot, 33, skipped bail and fled his home days before he and 41 year-old business partner Jeremy Wright were due before a jury over the £250,000 scam. Taylor-Barefoot, who has 11 previous convictions for dishonesty, splashed £9,500 of company funds on his wedding and a further £15,000 at West End nightspot Mahiki - the fashionable haunt frequented by celebrities and royalty, including Prince Harry.

FOREST HILL A six months pregnant air stewardess accused of hoarding thousands of pounds worth of looted goods from the riots has been granted bail. When police raided Alicia Wilkinson's home in Croydon it was allegedly 'jam-packed' with property including two valuable electric guitars, two plasma TVs, and a pile of hair extensions.

HUSSAIN: JAIL FOR DOPE SMUGGLING PRISON OFFICER

SNARESBROOK, MANOR PARK A court security officer who helped violent criminals smuggle drugs and mobile phones into prison has been jailed for two-and-a-half years. Serco employee Ashraf Hussain, 23, passed cannabis and handsets to defendants on trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Learco Chindamo, 30, is accused of using his notoriety over the 1995 murder as a weapon to mug a man at a cashpoint - just four months after he was released from jail.
