BAKARR: COURT JAILER SENT DOWN FOR PRISON DRUGS RACKET

PLAISTOW, BOW, EAST LONDON; CHELMSFORD, ESSEX A dock officer who smuggled drugs to a prisoner appearing in court for just £150 was jailed for two years and ten months today (Mon). Serco employee Leanne Bakarr, 36, handed two packages of cannabis weighing a total of 5.87grammes to Dane Dacas, 20, at Thames Magistrates' court. The plan was for Dacas to hide the drugs in his backside until he got back to HMP Chelmsford where he would pass it to inmates Niya Brewster, 21, and Steven Anderson, 25.

KING:THIEF HELPED GANGSTER RUN STOLEN CAR DEALERSHIP FROM CELL

ORPINGTON, FARNBOROUGH, BEXLEY, HAYES, KENT; CROYDON, SURREY A thief who helped a gangster run a luxury car dealership from his prison cell was today (thurs) stripped of nearly £200,000 of his ill-gotten gains. Thomas King, 28, was the 'man on the outside' for Robert Talbot, 34, who masterminded a major car ringing operation while serving a 12 year jail sentence. King was jailed for four years in 2011 for his role in the lucrative enterprise.

UPTON:TRAVELLER DENIES ATTEMPTING TO MURDER FIVE PEOPLE IN A47 SHOOTINGS

WISBECH, CAMBRIDGESHIRE A traveller today (Mon) denied attempting to murder five people in a shooting on the A47. Joseph Upton, 38, is alleged to have opened fire on two cars with a shotgun on the busy road close to Guyhirn, Cambridgeshire. Upton was charged with five counts of attempted murder following the alleged shooting in the early hours of November 19, 2011.

DUNBARTONSHIRE A sex offender today (weds) denied breaking a court order banning him from talking to children. David Crawford, 44, is accused of 'approaching, speaking to and communicating with' a child under the age of 16.

KEENAN: JAIL FOR UNDERWORLD BANKERS

TWICKENHAM, EGHAM Two underworld bankers who laundered more than £17million in organised crime profits were jailed for a total of 17 years today (Weds). Daniel Keenan, 41, and Andrew Barnett, 45, cleaned up vast proceeds from cocaine and heroin dealing by making currency exchanges with a stolen identity.

VENCLOVAS:LITHUANIAN MAN DENIES MURDERING ESTRANGED WIFE

PETERBOROUGH, CAMBS A Lithuanian man today (Tues) denied travelling across Europe to kidnap and murder his estranged wife. Vitalija Baliutaviciene, was last seen by neighbours on August 12 last year, leaving her home on Burmer Road, Peterborough, but her body has never been found.

OUGHTON: ROBBER CAUGHT WITH POT IN HIS PANTS

MANOR PARK/DAGENHAM A convicted armed robber caught with drugs stuffed into his underpants after returning from a court hearing has been jailed for six months. Paul Oughton, 45, was busted with 22.9gm of cannabis in a holding cell at HMP Pentonville. He had been on his way back from a lengthy trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court where he was eventually jailed in March of this year for 13 years for conspiracy to rob.

DE SOUZA: BOGUS CABBIE JAILED FOR COLD CASE RAPE

CENTRAL LONDON; STREATHAM, SOUTHWEST LONDON A bogus minicab driver who raped a teenage partygoer was jailed for nine years after his DNA was held on file despite him having no criminal record. Police are warning women about the perils of unlicenced minicabs in the run up to Christmas New Year as 32-year-old Marcos De Souza jailed for the early hours attack. The Brazilian lured the drunken 19-year-old into his car as she staggered outside from the house party in Camden, north London, on February 13.

SMITH:PRISONER WHO SLASHED TWO FELLOW INMATES FACES INDEFINITE SENTENCE

BRIXTON, SOUTH LONDON; DUNDEE A razor-wielding prisoner who slashed two fellow inmates in almost identical jailhouse attacks is facing an indefinite sentence after he yelled: 'I want to plead guilty,' on the last day of his trial. Ewan-Alexander Smith, 31, had denied the two attacks but just as his defence barrister was about to make his closing speech he had a surprise change of heart.

SOUTH BERMONDSEY A university student who was snared trying to smuggle crack to a gangland member he was visiting in prison was today (tue) jailed for four years. Michael Odenina, 24, donned two pairs of trousers in an attempt to hide 17 wraps of the Class A drug.

KING:RAIDERS FLED JEWELLERS WHEN SHOP BOSS PRESSED ALARM BUTTON

HORNCHURCH, ESSEX; FOREST HILL, SOUTHWARK, SOUTHEAST LONDON. A gang of would-be robbers wielding imitation firearms ran away from a jewellery shop mid-heist when the elderly owner pressed an alarm button, a court heard. The four masked men had driven from south London to rob the Solitaire jewellery shop in North Street, Hornchurch, Essex. But when they heard the alarm, they panicked and ran without taking anything, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard. They had previously tried and failed to enter the shop door, which could only be opened from the inside, by following a man who was leaving the building. When they moved too slowly and the door shut in their faces, they fetched an accomplice who let them in by posing as a legitimate customer.
